It works great and does not block any calls. It always came back as "working properly." To get the final satisfaction, I purchased another modem from a different company and guess what. I tried switching phone lines, and went through all the diagnostics.
The Installation directions were lacking in detail, but a computer-savy person should have little problems. It was blocking all phone calls when the computer was on or off. I purchased this product and installed it.
After calling Trendnet Support, there was no answer for this problem. I have only one conclusion---the Trendnet modem was defective. The modem worked fine for around five weeks, at which time I stopped receiving phone calls on my home phone line.
I traced the problem to my computer modem.
This is what it is and it works. Tried two modems that cost 4x as much from Best Buy but didn't work. It's a PCI 56K modem and it works. Great.
After that the modem installed, and ran correctly. Modem would not install correctly at first. Was necessary to rub the gold connector contacts with a clean pencil eraser, and re-insert into the computer.
It took 20 seconds just to load google.I don't know why else you would buy this other than to connect to the internet. Well I installed the card and got on, but the speed was only 3.2kb as opposed to the $30 a month cable speed I get of 185kb. So if you're ultimate goal is to connect to the internet then don't waste your time or your money on this modem or any other modem. Really I'm rating dial up internet 1 star. I bought this modem on the chance that I could set my inlaws up with dial up using net zero.
